Significantly better tank for this task: the Super Pershing.
Double the gun depression, double the fun.
I did suffer a sudden rush of crap to the head for the first half of the game trying to engage the other super pershing, but made up for it once the 2nd spot was reached.
This is a rather above-average steel wall for a Super Pershing when no artillery is around.
