🚨 THE EISNERS ARE JEALOUS OF WREXHAM… BUT DO POMPEY FANS WANT THIS?
Michael Eisner has admitted that he looks at what Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have achieved with Wrexham and feels a little jealous.
And honestly… who can blame him?
Wrexham have gone from a lower-league football club to one of the most talked-about clubs in world football. Hollywood ownership, global exposure, huge commercial growth, celebrity attention and a fanbase that has exploded around the world.
But here’s the question I want to ask:
DO POMPEY FANS ACTUALLY WANT THAT?
Because Portsmouth Football Club is different.
We have a proud identity, a huge and passionate fanbase, a history that goes back generations and something that is incredibly difficult to manufacture — a genuine connection between the football club and its city.
So while it’s easy to look at Wrexham and think, “Why can’t Pompey do that?”, should we actually want Portsmouth to follow the same path?
And what does Michael Eisner’s admission tell us about the ambitions of the Eisner family for Portsmouth Football Club?
In this video, I’m looking at the Wrexham phenomenon, the Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney model, the Eisners’ ownership of Pompey, the incredible potential of Portsmouth Football Club — and whether becoming the next Wrexham would actually be a good thing for Pompey.
Because there’s a huge difference between growing Portsmouth Football Club and turning Portsmouth into Wrexham.
