Continuing with our translation theme from yesterday's film release, today we're listening to Wellington composer Micah Thompson’s ‘Prosaic Notes from an Unwritten Journal’. Written for Stroma and dedicated to the memory of Jenny McLeod, Micah's work uses fascinating sounds from the bass flute, muted trumpet and prepared piano to reflect on what is (beautifully) lost when translating ideas.
Audio recorded by Phil Brownlee. Filmed and edited by Chris Watson for SOUNZ. Film funded by NZ on Air.
