If you fire your gun in a spot where you can plant the C3, the game forgets to clear the "you're allowed to plant a C3 here" flag, meaning you can plant the C3 for that fuel tank anywhere you want (as long as it's still in the hangar).
Do note that if you step on the trigger again or go to a different fuel tank, the flag will reset.
The second clip shows a potential VE strat, which should be faster than the current one.
