This was filmed in the Audio Visual Aids studio in Cambridge in 1982 before an invited audience. Jack Goody was the inspiration and convenor and it was arranged by Steven Levinson. Meyer Fortes gave a lecture on ancestors and showed a short film and then answered questions. It was one of three such occasions organised by Professor Goody - the other two being Audrey Richards and M.N. Srinivas.
