I never knew Queretaro had THIS! Gorgeous mountains and pine forests just a couple of hours from the colonial city and semi-desert climate of the beautiful city of Queretaro in the heart of Mexico. The Sierra Gorda really is a gorgeous and special place and I want to share it with you.
We explored Pinal de Amoles in the Sierra Gorda de Queretaro. It's a tiny pueblo in the mountains to the north of the state of Queretaro. This place is only just being discovered by tourists and it's rare to see a foreigner here. If you want to travel to Mexico and see something different to the typical tourist sites, Pinal de Amoles or other parts of the Sierra Gorda could be for you.
We spent time in the peaceful town of Pinal de Amoles and escaped the heat of Queretaro for a few days. We saw the amazing waterfall at Chuveje, saw the sun rise at Mirador Cuatro Palos, one of the highest peaks in the Sierra Gorda, and saw the caves at Puente de Dios.
I can't believe I have been living in Queretaro for so long and I had never visited the Sierra Gorda. If you want to travel in central Mexico, you should definitely check it out!
