Malie City was the very first song I did for the mix, and kind of the the song that gave me the idea to actually make a mix of Sun & Moon's city themes. The initial version I was working on was quite different, more electronic in style, but I ended up scrapping it eventually and opted to go for more of a smooth jazz rendition. I wanted to create something that would have a steady rhythm (aka house beat) and would be chill enough to listen to on a loop, but at the same time I wanted to create something that wasn't the most typical or expected from me. Did I succeed? I have no idea, really. Probably not. It's still very on brand in a lot of ways. But honestly speaking, I think it has some of the better soloing on the mix and I'd say that some harmonies, solos and choices are perhaps a bit different from the usual style I opt for. I should branch off more often.
