This is a capture of me playing the Regulator Training mode in Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt for the DS. This is not an emulator. This footage was captured directly from my New 3DS XL using the aftermarket capture kit manufactured by Katsukity and installed/sold by Merki.
After redoing my Metroid Prime Hunters playthrough, I realized I had not recorded any footage of Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt, so I decided to record some. First Hunt was a proof-of-concept demo cartridge that was included with the Nintendo DS during its launch in 2004.
I received my DS for Christmas of 2004, so my system included the demo cartridge. I played the demo a few times and that was about it since there was hardly any substance to the game. But it was still impressive to see Nintendo taking a GameCube game and modifying the basic concept to work on the weaker hardware of the DS. When I sold my launch DS and replaced it with a DS Lite in 2006, I kept the demo cartridge for collectibility sake.
There are three single-player modes in the demo cartridge which are meant to show off how the full game would eventually control and play on the DS. In this video I’m playing the Regulator Training mode where you simply have to defeat all of the enemies within a generous amount of time. The game records your score at the end, and you earn more points for consecutive hits on enemies, so I tried my best not to miss any shots and actually set my all-time high score.
