Four years ago, I streamed Maytroid, a marathon of nine Metroid games encompassing the majority of the series, save for spinoffs and two main series game. I promised to do another one when Prime 4 released, and as of last December, that finally happened! Therefore, Maytroid begins anew with Maytroid II: Return of Satus.
Last time, I decided to opt out of spinoffs, largely to not have to play Hunters, a game I wasn't fond of. I also struck Samus Returns from consideration due to, at the time, uncertainties regarding streaming 3DS games. I also removed the original Metroid from the list as I feared I'd just be miserable and not enjoy it. However, Metroid's 40th Anniversary is this year! So, I bit the bullet and dove in, having a better time than expected, though still an overall rough experience. Granted, I got through with way less assist use than anticipated, so that's a plus!
We have five total games this year, including this one! Metroid Prime Hunters is to follow, and after that, Samus Returns, thus covering the three major games omitted from last time! Afterward, Metroid Prime Remastered, and finishing with Metroid Prime 4: Beyond! I considered Federation Force but opted not to on the basis of it not starring Samus. This does not preclude the idea of a future, smaller Maytroid to cover it and a couple remaining games, though...
