Metroid Dread came out last week, and after 19 years we finally have a new chronological entry in the series. The galaxy is at peace?
I wanted to remix something from the OST and this one stood out, mostly because it seemed like one of the more difficult ones to remix at all. It's very abstract, but it perfectly nails that sense of.. well, Dread. (he said the thing!)
I wanted to reimagine this track from Samus' point of view once (SPOILERS) etc. This hunter is done wasting precious minutes skulking around in the corners - time to put that omega cannon to work.
To that end, I rewrote the drum pattern to be a bit less abstract, made the percussion hit HARDER, and made my mix more focused in opposition to the original track's wall of sound. I recreated the noisy droning alarm synths using my trusty Korg MS20 Mini and used like 9 million distortion pedals for everything else.
Find me in all the places! https://linktr.ee/luministmusic
Original composition by Soshi Abe or Sayako Doi // I don't know which of the two wrote this track, but they are both listed as composers in the game's credits.
