November is a great time to tackle some of the messy cottage garden jobs that need to be done before winter sets in. In this video, I show you how to scrub your greenhouse, create mulch from fallen leaves, and make leaf mould.

Scrubbing the greenhouse:

A clean greenhouse is essential for healthy plants. To scrub your greenhouse, you will need a bucket, warm soapy water, and a sponge. Start by sweeping out any loose dirt and debris. Then, use the sponge to scrub down the walls, windows, and floor of the greenhouse. Be sure to rinse off the soap with clean water before drying everything with a towel.

Creating mulch from fallen leaves:

Mulch is a great way to protect your plants from the cold winter weather and to add nutrients to the soil. To create mulch from fallen leaves, simply rake them up into a pile and then shred them using a lawnmower or leaf shredder. Once the leaves are shredded, spread them around your plants in a layer about 2-3 inches thick.

Making leaf mould:

Leaf mould is a type of compost that is made from fallen leaves. It is a great way to improve the drainage and structure of your soil. To make leaf mould, simply collect a pile of fallen leaves and place them in a bin or bag. Make sure that the leaves are moist but not soggy. Then, cover the bin or bag with a lid or cloth. The leaves will decompose over time, and in about 6-12 months, you will have leaf mould that you can use in your garden.
