Ensha of the Royal Remains is one of the more fascinating characters in Elden Ring. In this video, I make the case for why Ensha was defeated by Messmer. I also go over some of the surprising connections between Ensha and the Blessed Bone Shard, the Sun Realm, Godwyn, and the Eclipse.
Just to clarify, there are two Enshas in the game. There’s the OG Ensha who was a soulless king who became the Royal Remains Set. And then there’s the Ensha we see in the Roundtable Hold, who is wearing the Royal Remains Set. For the most part, this video focuses on the OG Ensha.
Ensha may also have been inspired by Sumerian mythology, since Enshag (also spelled Enshak and Inzak) was the god of the ancient kingdom of Dilmun. In myth, Dilmun was a land of immortality where the sun never set and in reality, Dilmun has thousands of burial mounds.
