Public discourse regarding the Lindsay Clancy case often devolves into arguments about whether she should be exonerated or punished. However, fixating on the individual misses an important point entirely. This video examines how the mental health system is might not identify psychosis, often reducing complex symptoms to simple depression for the sake of institutional convenience.
When we ignore the ideological biases that treat women's health as secondary or hormonal, we allow these systemic blind spots to persist. By shifting the focus away from the drama of the criminal trial and toward the incentives that drive institutional failure in our mental health system, we can better understand how to navigate these systems before they inevitably fail us or our families.
