Welp, this is my character vid entry for the Middle-Earth Vidding Contest...and I can't stand it.
Okay, so, explanation: we all got assigned a character to do a vid of, and I got Elrond. Now, I don't hate Elrond. I actually like him...in the books (but I basically like all the LOTR characters in some way.) I don't even dislike him in the movies, really. It's just that he was so watered down in the movies that there's really very little that's specifically *about him* to work with. In the books he was more of a virtuous, fair leader. In the movies, he still sort of was, but he was a good deal crankier than in the books. Which I don't necessarily mind, because if you know the backstory, there's a reason he would be disillusioned and struggling to find a reason to keep going--namely the passing of his wife, etc. However, that really wasn't developed in the movies.

So anyway, the basic ideer I had behind this one was that although he was an elf who had lived many centuries, seen many horrible and sorrowful things, etc, when it came down to it he didn't give in to despair and remained an ally to the peoples of Middle-Earth. No idea if I succeeded or not, but whatevs. And now I am signing off on this super-long description that probably no one will read. :P
