Just over 35 years ago they were falsely accused of raping a woman in Central Park, with Donald Trump leading calls for them to face the death penalty.

Now, four members of the Central Park Five spoke on stage at the DNC after being introduced by the civil rights activist Al Sharpton. They included Yusef Salaam, who was recently elected to the New York City council.

“45 wanted us unalive. He wanted us dead,” he said. “Today we are exonerated because the original perpetrator confessed and DNA proved it.”
