Melanie Anne Safka’s 1970 cover version of “Ruby Tuesday” is considered by many critics as one of the best interpretations of that song. Ruby Tuesday was written by Keith Richards for the Rolling Stones. During the 1960s, Melanie started performing at the Inkwell, which was in the West End section of Long Branch, New Jersey. This was the place where I lived a few years after she left, but there were many other young music artists performing nearby. A few of them became very famous, especially the one named Bruce.
