The X Factor judge, who walked out on her husband just before she was rushed to hospital with crippling stomach pains 10 days ago, is said to have had enough of their furious rows.
The former Spice Girl has been left .“broken and traumatized” by the breakdown of her relationship with film producer Stephen.
A friend said: “At the moment she is discussing divorce.
“She knows this is not the easiest option. It's going to be tough. But she knows her marriage is over.”
The last straw came as Stephen flew to California with their three-year-old daughter Madison and her pretty blonde nanny this week as Mel recovered from the illness that saw her miss the first episode of the X Factor final last Saturday.
