Through immediate searching, I've only found one "8-bit" remix that was any good, though it was simulating the VRC6 audio chip. The rest I found were terrible gxscc MIDI conversions, which aren't in any way within the NES sound hardware specs. Therefore, I decided to remix the song into the NES stock hardware sound limitations.
Instruments I used were 2 "Ultimate NES Soundfont" samples for the 2 main leads, the orchestra hits I sampled form Super C, the entire drum kit (including the noise channel hi-hats) was sampled from Super Mario Bros. 3, and the backing square waves were sampled from Super Mario Bros.
I transcribed the song by hand in FL Studio 8.
Please leave a comment, like, and constructive feedback. Let me know what you think. If this is well received I will make more!
