I met Christopher Awdry, who Thomas the tank engine was created for as a bedtime story when he was a child. However, it was certainly not just the Rev. W. Awdry who inspired The Railway Series, it was really with thanks to the whole Awdry family, and they're still involved with that legacy to this day.
In this video I'll tell you what it was like meeting Christopher and other members of the 'Thomas' family, and how several generations contributed to the railway stories that have inspired millions.
It's been over 15 years since Christopher last hosted a public book signing, so it was a wonderful occasion to have had so many fans gather at the Swanage Railway this year.
