Yuan Yang is a distinguished journalist, author, and a newly elected member of the UK Parliament—the second-ever British-Chinese member to be elected to the House of Commons.
Her work as the Financial Times' Europe-China correspondent and former deputy bureau chief in Beijing has given her unique insights into China’s socio-economic landscape. Her latest book, “Private Revolutions,” is a powerful snapshot of four young Chinese women attempting to assert control over the direction of their lives, escape the narrow confines of their patriarchal rural roots and make it in the big city.
Before becoming a journalist, Yuan co-founded of Rethinking Economics, a charity headquartered in Manchester, UK that campaigns to make economics teaching more relevant to the real world.
