After years of discussion with other language learners and students, Ive narrowed down the top 3 things I still hear when it comes to our pronunciation in a foreign language. The series continues! In this new series for Brazilians learning to master their English pronunciation, Pode Crer, we introduce a new language game. To play, you just need to read my word as if it were a Portuguese word / phrase. Once you say it naturally in Portuguese the word youre actually saying is in ENGLISH! And with pretty natural pronunciation!
You get to guess which English word youre actually saying! Its a fun game that you can share with others. Try and see if they can guess before I reveal the answer!!
Were trying to create a modification from the inglês brasileiro which weve grown accustomed to, and in many cases feels more comfortable. Sometimes we need to question certain sounds or at least verify that what were saying is extremely clear and natural, given the place were going to be using the language. Since I work as a pronunciation coach to many amazing Brazilians ;) I get to see first hand which mistakes are commonly made and which techniques are easiest to remember. If spelling a word in *Brazinglish* or *Portunglês* is the best way to help make a relationship to the pronunciation, then lets start spelling words in a more strategic way - at least for the purposes of learning the complex pronunciation of English!
