I have been working on this for awhile now and it runs on Bazzite SteamOS with a custom low-cost mini ITX with an AMD Ryzen APU with a 780M GPU, 32 GB DDR5-6000 and 1 TB 4gen NVME. Hopefully less than $500 in a few months. It is powered by 11-13.5VDC at up to 300W (depending power mode and if a low-profile GPU is installed). It includes a 220W 12VDC switching supply (smallest unit made), but an optional 144Wh LiION battery system enclosed in a “thermos” will also be available. The built-in monitor is an IPS 1920x1280 10.5” display at up to 100Hz refresh. The less than $500 price is for the non-touch version. Add $50 for touch. A 1/6th size wired mini keyboard is included that fits into the recessed area of the ‘Steam Pail’ when closed. A compact gamepad (like the 8BitDo Xbox version) or slim mouse will also fit inside. A coiled USB-A to USB_C is included to connect to your XBOX or Sony controller as well. (BT 5.3 and WiFi 6e is included as well 2.5 Gbps Ethernet)
The case/display/bass baffled speakers/fans can also be purchased to mount your own miniITX or even mini PC since predrilled holes are available for miniITX board as well as VESA 75mm that can be used for the mounting bracket provided for most mini ITXs. Note: Mini ITXes are normally powered by 19VDC so a USB to 12VDC power circuit is provided to drive the two 50mm fans. The USB port must be able to provide 200ma.
I went with a 12VDC source so that one could power with a myriad of sources like a car, or any 11-13.5 VDC battery. In my case I have BA* “mini” 1350Wh LifePO 4 battery that is charged by a solar panel that can provide up to 10 hours of gaming (99% GPU - 130W). A USB battery monitor that fools Linux and Windows into thinking you have UPS installed that monitors voltage and current that interpolates realtime discharge rate based on the instantaneous load allowing for accurate battery level and safe shutdown. (currently working on the Linux component to show up in the SteamOs Deck mode.
Currently securing distributors which might be a fools errand due to the antics of the Trump administrations that has already increased pricing and significant delays in transport (up to 3 months)
