Our latest species at our Turtle Ark is the black-breasted leaf turtle. It is a species threatened by the illegal pet trade, and this is one of a group of 31 individuals that was confiscated in the Swedish customs in 2024. Today, there is no rescue population for the black-breasted leaf turtle, despite the species being highly threatened in the wild. Nordens Ark has therefore taken the lead in establishing one, where the confiscated individuals will form the foundation in different wildlfe parks in Europe.
