Santon is an award-winning musician who is fully blind from birth and is autistic. He was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, and grew up in Massachusetts. He began taking piano lessons when he was 3.5 years old. Santon plays the piano and several other instruments, as well as composing music. He is an alumnus of Perkins School for the Blind and went on to graduate from Berklee College of Music, summa cum laude. He performs as a solo pianist, accompanies singers, and plays piano in the Boston Tango Orchestra. Santon produced 2 albums: “Flavors of the Rainbow” and “Night Animals.” When Santon doesn't play music, he dances the Argentine tango, does acrobatics on a trapeze, windsurfs, rides a tandem bicycle with his dad, swims, skis, skates, travels, and fully enjoys life.
After a very long and challenging year, we are excited to announce the 2nd annual Danny Awards, sponsored by René Plessner. To give our Award Recipients the event that they deserve, we are pushing the 2021 Danny Awards back until December 12, 2021, at 4:00-6:00 PM EST, in the hopes of hosting it live in New York City, and live streaming it globally via the internet.
A panel of judges comprised of musicians and music industry professionals will have selected top Award Recipients, chosen from video submissions in two categories; “Outstanding Original Song” and “Joyful Expression of a Cover Song”. Each Award Recipient will receive a personalized Danny Award memorializing their achievement, an honorarium of $500; plus, up to a $500 travel reimbursement (reimbursement to be made based on actual expenses incurred and submitted).
