Meet RED40 — a 1997 Kouki 240SX with a clean, low-mile stock notchtop
SR20DET. And one of you is taking it home.
Only 3,655 240SXs sold in the U.S. for the 1997 model year, and just
2,178 in 1998. That's about 5,833 Koukis total before Nissan pulled the
car from the market for good.
Now think about how many got drifted, crashed, parted out, rusted away,
or hacked up over the last 29 years… This one somehow survived.
The previous owner has had it since 2007, and for most of the last
decade it just sat — an occasional lap around the block to keep
everything moving, and that's it.
Ultra Red. Minty black interior. Uncracked dash. 5-lug swap. The paint
has seen better days, but underneath it all is an incredibly solid car.
So naturally… I bought it. RED40 is coming home for the full MotionAuto
treatment — paint brought back to life, cleaned up, modified, and turned
into the car it deserves to be. Then we hand it to one of you.
