The DRC has been branded the worst place in the world to be a woman. Women are routinely raped and when deciding whether or not to undertake the perilous trek to school, young girls often have to choose between risking their education - or their safety.
We had the unique opportunity to sit down with Mélanie to discuss the situation of women and children in the DRC and gain insight into the Interactive Radio Instruction (IRI) programs targeting young girls who are denied formal education due to SGBV risks, early forced marriage, domestic chores, child labor, poverty, and the tendency to prioritize male education.
