In this fourth session of a 10-part global webinar series from the Lausanne Movement’s Leadership Development Issue Network, we explore meekness in leadership through Jesus’ teaching in the Sermon on the Mount.
Drawing from Matthew 5:5, Asiri Fernando unpacks the often misunderstood blessing, “Blessed are the meek,” showing how true meekness is not weakness but strength expressed through humility, servanthood, and trust in the sovereignty of God. Through biblical teaching and personal stories from Christian leaders such as John Stott, J.T. Small, and J.O. Fraser, Asiri challenges leaders to embrace the way of Christ—the suffering servant who came not to be served but to serve.
