In this video, I’m talking about my brother Mediocre Tutorials and Reviews (MTR) making a major move that a lot of people might find unthinkable—he’s stepping away from YouTube. MTR is a colleague I’ve watched grow since he had just 10,000 subscribers, and seeing him get close to that million-subscriber mark while dealing with a cancer scare and the loss of his father has been heavy. I wanted to use this moment to remind everyone that behind the screen, we’re all human. Even when the money is good and the numbers are up, the grind of content creation is a non-stop, every-day mental battle that can wear you down.
I’m sharing a bit of my own story too, because this year has been a real struggle after losing someone I cared deeply about back in February. As Black men, we often feel like we just have to "tough it out" and fight through the pain, but the reality is that mental health matters. Whether it's MTR taking time for his family and health or me trying to find my own motivation again, the message is the same: you have to look out for yourself because nobody else is going to do it for you. This platform can run you into the ground if you let it, so I’m standing with MTR as he chooses peace over the hustle.
