Commuters using taxis to travel between Khayelitsha and Somerset West in the Western Cape, are hoping that mediation talks between warring taxi associations, CATA and CODETA, will lead to a long lasting and peaceful resolution.

The formal mediation process, involving public transport stakeholders coordinated by the Western Cape Mobility Department, is underway in Cape Town.

It aims to address the violent conflict affecting the Khayelitsha–Somerset West route.
