In the 1st Mechwarrior game released for DOS in 1989 working for Marik and Liao had *severe* drawbacks: Marik sometimes make up excuses to pay you less than they agreed to for successful missions, while Liao occasionally claim breach of contract and refuse to pay you *anything* despite successfully doing what they asked you to.
