On 8/9/2025 I had the opportunity to ride as a passenger while my friend Jason races his 2025 Corvette Z06 (with the Z07 package) at Sebring International Speedway at speeds of 150+ mph. What an incredible experience it was.
The on-screen display shows:
Brake force (Red bar graph top right)
Throttle position (green bar graph top right)
G-Forces and direction (lower left corner that looks like radar)
Gear indicator (top right)
Steering Angle (lower right)
Speed (top center)
RPM (bottom center bar graph)
Slip Indicator (appears below brake/throttle graphs when traction control is kicking in)
Total miles on the track for this race (bottom middle)
Current lap time (below the gear indicator)
Difference between this lap time and your last lap time (below the current lap time - A positive time means you are slower, a negative time means you are faster)
Interesting facts:
- This video with all of the data overlay is "built-in" to the Corvette. Everything is saved to an SD card.
- The track is 3.7 miles long and has 17 turns.
- The vehicle will consume over a gallon of fuel for each lap.
- A race is around 30 mins (approx. 12 laps) at which point it will have consumed just over 3/4 of a tank of fuel (18.5 gallon fuel tank)!
- The tires, which cost around $3000 for a set, will generally only last a couple of weekends of racing
- The brakes are carbon ceremnic. The rotors cost around $3000 each and a set of pads for the front and rear around $1100 for a set). The front pads on average only last about 7 weekends (14 track days or about 1200 miles). The rears are used very often so they last about 3-4x longer.
