Okay, let's be honest here....I have no idea what I'm thinking right now. I'm a beginning masker who stresses out over deadlines and here I am auditioning for Mx Disney!!!
To top it off, SV has chosen this week from all others to be an absolute pain in every way possible! Which is why I'm apologizing in advance for any glitches that I was unable to work out in the final rendering of this video.....believe me, I tried.
There is, however, one thing that I do love out of all this, and that's storytelling. So, after learning about Mx Disney through Oncie Punzie's amazing audition video, I simply couldn't stop thinking about it! The theme for this year sounds SO cool!!!! It didn't take long for a character to take form, and bit by bit all the little details began to fall into place, until finally, I couldn't help NOT trying out!

So, here it is!!! I know it may not look like it, but a lot of time and thought went into this. My family has been very supportive of me from the beginning, and I'm very grateful for all there help :)
I don't really know what to expect in the results.....but only time will tell I guess.

Story:
1 year after the mysterious accident that claimed the lives of her parents and sent her into a coma, Mara wakes up. But in her eyes it was only yesterday and she remembers everything.

The video begins as she returns home for the first time in months. Everything is exactly the same as the day she left, and yet, nothing is. The house feels empty, lifeless, lonely....far from the place she used to call home.
She finds an old family photo and--physically and emotionally drained from the long day--falls asleep with it in her arms.
But even in her sleep, memories of the past continue to haunt her in her dreams.
She wakes up--scared and confused--and races outside in the middle of a storm, forgetting all about plucking day. The wind whips through her hair and lightning lights up the darkened skies. She doesn't know where she's going, or what she's doing, all she knows is that she wants to get away from everyone and everything...unfortunately she doesn't get very far.
But is her abduction the very escape she was looking for, or is it her worst nightmare come true?

Backstory:
Mara was born in Croatia on May 21st of 1999. She is the only child in her family and lives with her father (Radcliffe Bomba) and mother (Aunt Cass). They've always been a very close family, staying true to themselves no matter what.
Because of her father's work (which remains unknown right now) they used to travel a LOT. Mara loves exploring the world, meeting all kinds of different people, and trying new things!!!
Then came the accident. It happened on January 1st of 2017.....everything changed after that night.

Other then that though, I've decided to keep most of Mara's back story hidden at this point, merely hinting at her past for now.
However, should I get accepted in, there will definitely be a lot more of that revealed later on, including the moments leading up, and surrounding the details of the accident.

(Fun) Facts:
• I chose the name Mara because it is the Croatian Version of Mary, and--seeing as her real name is Mary in the movie--it seemed fitting....not to mention that I think it's a lovely name! As for her last name, I wanted a K because I thought it'd be cool to keep her initials as MK, which--being the most popular last name beginning with K in Croatia--made Kovac an obvious choice.

• Croatia is a small country in southern Europe. It first became independent in 1991, and a parade was held in the country capital (Zagreb) on the 28th of May to celebrate.

• The average temperature for Croatia in January is in the upper 40°s, and--while November is technically the wettest month in the country--January is also considered a part of its "rainy season" and it is not uncommon to expect occasional thunder storms during that time.
