Several months back, I acquired a 16mm film reel containing 14 McDonaldland commercials from eBay, and had it scanned in high resolution by the incredible folks at the Colorlab. The original film is red tinted, but I was able to color correct them all in After Effects.
Unfortunately, almost all of these commercials are incomplete: cut off at the end, usually when they show up to McDonald's, which is really a shame. Still, the quality looks incredible, and way clearer than I've ever seen McDonaldland look before!
This is the final upload I have from that reel. 'Bump in the Night' is one of my all time favorite McDonaldland commercials, with such a warm and cozy Christmas eve setting. Besides the 'lost' stuff, I was probably the most excited to find this one on the film reel. I'm thrilled to present this timeless ad in stunning HD for the holiday this year. While it's only the :30 version, it's fully intact and looks incredible. Hope you all enjoy seeing it as much as I do. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!
