Mbira Cover - America the Beautiful Instrumental
The sound of the "Array" Mbira brings MAGIC to this arrangement of America the Beautiful. Performed for you this Fourth of July by Patti Broussard #arrayartist
America the Beautiful, was written by poet, Katharine Lee Bates in1883. The song was based on a poem she wrote while visiting Colorado Springs Colorado. This poem was printed in The Congregationalist, a weekly journal and it appeared there on July 4, 1895.
Katharine made it to the top of Pikes Peak where she found her inspiration while taking in the views before her. And we were blessed with the following -
'O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountains majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea'
A few months after Katharine's poem appeared in The Congregationalist, Silas G. Pratt put the piece to music. Bates later revised the song in 1904. Today this patriotic song is considered by many as an unofficial National Anthem.
