As void overtakes, the voice softens. The screaming grows quiet, the begging and pleading stops. The overwhelming noise fades away. Mist. Nothing. All gone. As if it never was. Who knows who they could have been. Who knows what their story was. There was never a story to tell to begin with. Just space being occupied. A cloud of half-conscious energy floating through everything, growing smaller and weaker as bits and pieces slowly drifted out and away, into ash. Into dust. There was nothing to save, and now there never was to begin with. Nobody would remember them. There was nothing to remember. There was no connection. No bond. Pure solitude and suffering. And she knew that. She knew there was no purpose in trying to save what could not be saved.
And she wept.
