Cucumbers develop large root systems and sprawling vines, so spacing and airflow are essential. We start by skipping the bottom growing section of the tower to improve airflow and reduce humidity around the base. From there, we plant one cucumber per section on alternating sides, giving us a total of 10 plants per tower. For this setup, we used four towers inside a custom-built grow cage, fitted with detachable metal cables to support the vine growth. Each tower was dedicated to a single variety to keep things consistent and easier to manage. In this grow, we tested four varieties: Unagi, Itachi, Salt & Pepper, and Diva. The results showed that Unagi delivered the highest yields, while Salt & Pepper came in at the lowest. From transplanting the seedlings, it takes just about six weeks to reach full production.

$Thyme-lapse. We used a timelapse camera to capture 11 weeks of growth of thyme on an aeroponic tower We film at nighttime to keep the lighting perfectly consistent and to avoid flickering caused by shadows and clouds. We can get 44 bunches of thyme per tower, amounting to nearly 8 kg of thyme in less than 1 square meter.
