Out of all 1,189 chapters in the Bible, Psalm 40 is my life chapter. It tells my storyâpast, present, and future.
It opens with a testimony:
âI waited patiently for the Lord; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire.â
For me, it wasnât just mud; it was a cesspool. I was drowning in my own mess, up to my eyes. Yet God reached down and rescued me. He didnât just pull me outâHe cleaned me off, healed my heart, and set my feet on the Rock.
What is that Rock? Itâs the unshakable confession that Jesus is Lordâlike Peterâs declaration at Caesarea Philippi. Itâs prayer, His Word, His church and the Great Commission. And on that Rock, He placed a new song in my mouthânot a cover tune, not a secular anthem, but an original hymn of praise to Him alone. He gave me a story for His glory and a melody to point others to the true Treasure: Christ and His Kingdom.
The goal of this song isnât charts, awards, or applause. Itâs transformation. Psalm 40 promises:
âMany will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in Him.â
Thatâs the heartbeat of New Song. The very next verse adds:
âBlessed is the one who trusts in the Lord; who does not look to the proud, nor turn aside to false gods.â
This chapter calls us to live unashamed and uncompromisingârefusing to bow to idols or empty ideologies, putting Christ first in everything. Thatâs why the chorus declares:
âI will not be ashamed, neither be afraid.
I will not be quiet, no one can silence...
I will not be timid; no one can limit this love!â
The vast majority of this track is pure Scripture. But verses 9â10 especially grip me: in just two lines, David says five different ways he will proclaim and will not stay silent. Thatâs my mission tooâto boldly share the Gospel, unashamed, so that others can experience the same rescue I have.
My prayer is that this âNew Songâ stirs your heart to trust Him and inspires you to sing your own testimony of His saving love.

Last September, when we were touring Japan, we shared the stage with a pastor with a unique Christafari story. He used to be an atheist who didnt want anything to do with God.
Then, a Christian who loved him and knew he loved reggae conspired for his salvation by giving him a Christafari CD. After opening himself up to our music, he was impacted by the message, and the Holy Spirit started doing some serious work in his life. The rest is history.
After Japan, we headed to the Philippines, where we learned of a couple who had a similar story. This is why we do this! We were so impacted by these and countless other stories weve heard in over 90 nations that we decided to use this story as the treatment for our next music video.
