In 2018 Seif Kousmate conducted a photographic investigation about traditional slavery in Mauritania. Slavery was officially abolished by Mauritania's government in 1981 only. Despite this and international pressure to enforce anti-slavery measures, enslavement practices persist to this day.
Since then, Seif has started working on a photo fanzine to share his findings on the urgency of the situation.
