His path into this field began with pioneers including Robert Schoch, John Anthony West, Robert Bauval, Graham Hancock, and Randall Carlson, and deepened through his own close working relationship with Schoch on an in-progress documentary. The chronology problem runs deepest at Giza's Sphinx enclosure, where Robert Schoch identified water erosion within minutes of his 1990s investigation, a finding still unaccepted because dynastic Egypt received no rainfall, meaning the erosion evidence forces a reconsideration of the Sphinx's actual age and the astronomical alignments associated with it, a chronological shift Matt believes the academic establishment resists because it would undermine decades of built institutional consensus. That question led him, alongside Schoch, archaeologists, and sacred geometry researcher Robert Edward Grant, to trace a set of specific, repeated symbols back to an origin point in eastern Turkey's Van region, mapped globally into a second database, the Ancient Code Database, which he believes decodes a lost, unified knowledge system of natural law, predating organised religion, describing the relationship between the physical and metaphysical worlds and the true scale of human significance within it.
