Today we’re stepping inside the private race shop of a NASCAR legend—Matt Crafton. With a career spanning 25 years in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and three championships under his belt, Crafton’s truck career is prolific to say the least. With the exception of one year at Kevin Harvick Inc, Matt spent the entire time racing for ThorSport in the 88 Menards truck.
Matt shows us his first-ever Truck Series winning Silverado. Not only did this truck survive the devastating 2016 ThorSport Racing shop fire, but it carries a lineage that dates back to the gold-standard era of NASCAR. This chassis started its life in 1998 as a Richard Childress Racing (RCR) Goodwrench #3 truck—carrying the iconic livery of Dale Earnhardt Sr.—before it was transformed into the iconic yellow Menards machine that took Matt to victory lane TEN YEARS after the chassis was built!
We also dive deep into Matt’s "second life" on the dirt. While he spent decades as a pavement specialist, Crafton is becoming well versed in UMP Dirt Modifieds. We’ll see the cars he’s building and hear in his own words WHY he has become so interested in dirt racing!
