Almost all traditional religions explain phenomena by invoking supernatural entities (angels, spirits, gods, saints) and magical mechanisms. Mathematical 'physics' has one thing in common with traditional religions. The mathematicians who call themselves 'physicists' explain phenomena by invoking abstract mathematical concepts as mediators (energy, mass, field, time, force, charge). But they explain mechanisms, especially action at a distance mechanisms, also through black magic and witchcraft. The mathemagicians never figured out that they were supposed to identify the invisible, intangible mediators that Mother Nature uses to do her daily work.
