Petrus Peregrinus was the first to ‘explain’ the CAUSE/MECHANISM of attraction and repulsion between two magnets in his Epistola de Magnete , which he wrote in the 13th Century. He said that the north pole attracts the south pole and repels the north pole. Great! A Nobel for him!

Fortunately, the mathematicians of Harvard and Cambridge have made a lot of progress since his days. They propose that a magnet attracts another BECAUSE the electrons in the respective magnets are spinning clockwise and counterclockwise. Great! A Nobel for them, too!

So… the strategic problem is not so much that the mathematicians who call themselves ‘physicists’ still have no clue how a magnet works. The problem is that they have no clue regarding the difference between a description and an explanation.
