Offset your carbon footprint on Wren: wren.co/start/tomrocksmaths. The first 100 people who sign up will have 10 extra trees planted in their name!

After calculating my CO2 footprint with Wren, I look at the maths happening behind the scenes. A total of six categories are considered: cars, flights, diet, pets, clothing and energy costs.

If you are looking for a way to reduce your carbon footprint, this video will help you to work out how much you can save by changing your habits. #climatecrisis #climatechange #carbonoffset

Carbon report sources
The base carbon calculator data comes from UC Berkeley's CoolClimate Network: https://coolclimate.berkeley.edu/calculator

Country-specific baselines come from World Bank's CO2E repository: data.worldbank.org/indicator/EN.ATM.GHGT.KT.CE

These two resources are also used to calculate the “your footprint by category” chart.

Emissions comparisons sources
Trees cut per year: The U.S. Forest Service estimates one 33 year old Gumtree has about 1.2 tons of carbon stored in it. fs.usda.gov/treesearch/pubs/52933

Square feet of Arctic sea ice loss: For every metric ton of carbon dioxide emitted, about three square meters (approximately 32.3 square feet) of Arctic summer sea ice is destroyed. science.sciencemag.org/content/354/6313/747

Cows burping per year: A special breathalyzer measured about 0.5kg of methane burped by one cow every day. Multiply that by 25 to get the CO₂ equivalent of methane, and that's 12.5kg per day, or 4.56 metric tonnes per year! ars.usda.gov/research/publications/publication/?seqNo115=358880

Burgers eaten: Exact numbers for emissions from one burger vary from 1.8 kg to as much as 335kg (factoring in deforestation for cattle farms). The more conservative estimate is used here. sixdegreesnews.org/archives/10261/the-carbon-footprint-of-a-cheeseburger
