Obscure and short-lived Parisian band formed in 1987 in the style of Babel 17. Recorded in the B17 studio between 1990 and 1991. Only some rare demos, about ten songs, are known to this day.
Some concerts in Belgium, Japan and of course in France. M.A.T. played as opening acxt for Consolidated, Fugazi, Treponem Pal and Blurt. The very first concert of M.A.T. was in June 1988 at the M.J.C of Nanterre, more gigs throughout 1988 followed including one at the Gibus Club in July. Further gigs in Japan in August 1989. They returned to the Gibus Club in December 1989. In March 1990, they played the Montrouge stage with Jad Wio and Züruck Placenta. Further gigs in Poitiers, Rouen, Paris during 1991 and 1992. Their last appearance took place in Belgium in June 1992 with the band Stereo Toxic Device.
The group also made a videoclip for "Tchernobyl".
Fabrice Charlot (alias Fab) and Bruno Weiss (alias Tcherno) created the band Recycler in Paris in 1997, but before Recycling, Moving Audio Target (M.A.T. again) was Bruno Weiss' third musical project in association with Jean-Michel Danovaro.
The acronym M.A.T. was used for "Maladie Auditivement Transmissible" (meaning "Auditorily Contagious Disease") and Moving Audio Target.
