This is a snippet from our forthcoming interview with Steve Maxwell. He's a real life nomad, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instructor and strength and conditioning expert.

As one of the first wave of Americans to be taught Jiu-Jitsu by the Gracie family the now 62 year young Steve has coached some of the best athletes in the world. He was also one of the original investors in the UFC, is good friends with a hero of ours UFC commentator Joe Rogan, and has been interviewed on his show 'The Joe Rogan Experience Podcast' multiple times.

Recently we also had the pleasure of interviewing and working with the legend so keep an eye out for forthcoming videos available on http://maxwellsc.com, youtube.com/user/MaxwellStrengthCond and our full length interview with him on our channel.

Big thanks to Steve and much love to Teresa for her organisation!

Here's what he said in this snippet:

"They're claiming now, that 68% of Americans are either now overweight or obese but 38% here in the UK, man. You don't want to following in America's shadows.

A lot of people don't realise that the leading cause of death in modern civilised countries, is not cancer, heart disease or diabetes. It's falling. Right up there with traffic accidents and accidents in the home. Old people they get really stiff and they fear engaging the ground.

One of the major differences between young and old is your comfort in getting up and down off the floor. So a lot of times I like to do a lot of up and down type drills and so forth. Rolling drills, martial arts forward rolls, backward rolls, break falls and stuff. And you can start real easy to overcome your fear because there is a big fear factor.

And I like to stand up in base this is like how a baby stands up, it's also what we teach in jiujitsu. It kinda keeps your martial arts skills up and then you start to progress to from your feet where you just come up, let the momentum take you and you can do it slow...."
