MycoWorks | Master Leather Artisan Works with Reishi™ Leather Alternative by MycoWorks @MycoWorks | Uploaded June 2021 | Updated October 2024, 3 hours ago.
Master leather artisan Béatrice Amblard works with Reishi™, MycoWorks’ first Fine Mycelium™ product. Tradition meets innovation: this 30 year old master leather artisan was one of the first designers to use traditional leather working techniques with Reishi, creating the first showcase of elevated leather craft with Fine Mycelium.
Reishi™ hasn’t been created in silo. It’s artisan-driven, improved and adapted by workshops and ateliers all over the world, each one a testament to the high standards of quality we uphold.
“I liked that it was matte, not glossy. It had a natural appeal to it. The material felt soft, yet stiff and stable.”
“To work with a new material like this and not have any problems with traditional techniques was a big surprise.”
“Stitching is the true test and we had no problems—it was very, very similar to stitching leather.” - Master leather artisan, Béatrice Amblard.
