We Love Africa | Massive Nane Nane Protest Erupts in Nairobi: Calls for President Ruto's Resignation! @weloveafrica | Uploaded August 2024 | Updated October 2024, 3 hours ago.
Kenyans are set to march in Nairobi on Thursday, August 8, for a protest dubbed 'Nane Nane' to demand a fairer society and the resignation of President Ruto. The protesters are calling for action against corruption and a brighter future for Kenya, urging President William Ruto to step down. Ruto had promised to address the country's cost of living crisis within 100 days of his 2022 election, but widespread unrest was sparked by protests against a controversial tax bill in June. These demonstrations turned violent, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries, leading Ruto to dismiss his cabinet and abandon the bill. The government is now urging the predominantly Gen Z protest movement to allow time for delivering on its promise
