In Kathmandu, local police have begun burying dozens of victims in multiple trenches as officials manage the overwhelming number of fatalities.
According to official updates from disaster agencies on both sides of the border, the confirmed death toll has surpassed 1,000 people. Nepal’s disaster agency reported 1,003 deaths within its borders, while Chinese authorities confirmed 16 fatalities in their latest update.
