As a new school year begins, Hispanic enrollment in Maryland public schools has decreased for the first time in years, according to data released in June by the Maryland State Department of Education. The data shows a 0.6% drop in Hispanic enrollment for 2026, equating to more than 1,000 fewer students. The decline follows an average yearly increase of 4.9% in Hispanic enrollment from 2023-2025.
