PlayStation’s latest State of Play just gave us an extended look at Marvel’s Wolverine gameplay, and it looks absolutely savage! From the brutal new claw mechanics and "Rage Tier 3" monochromatic combat to the introduction of Jean Grey, Bolivar Trask, and Sabretooth—Insomniac is definitely bringing the action for its September 15, 2026 release date.
But while the combat looks incredible, I’m riding a wave of cautious optimism. After the lackluster story and rushed pacing we saw in Marvel's Spider-Man 2, can Insomniac truly deliver the deep, character-driven narrative that a character like Logan deserves?

Based on the 2002 blockbuster film, Spider-Man: The Movie follows high schooler Peter Parker as he gains incredible, arachnid-like abilities after being bitten by a genetically modified spider. Following the tragic murder of his Uncle Ben, Peter learns that with great power comes great responsibility and dons the mantle of Spider-Man to protect New York City.
The narrative tracks Peters evolution from an amateur cage wrestler into a full-fledged superhero, putting him on a collision course with a rogues gallery of villains. The central conflict pits Spider-Man against the Green Goblin, the psychotic alter-ego of industrialist Norman Osborn, who threatens the entire city and those Peter loves most. Alongside the main film plot, the game expands the universe by introducing battles against classic comic book foes like Shocker, Vulture, and Scorpion.
This footage/gameplay was captured on PC via the PCSX2 emulator, bringing the classic 2002 PlayStation 2 experience into modern high definition with enhanced resolutions and stable framerates.
